Meeting Minutes of the
New Braunfels Photographic Society
October 13, 2015

 
 The New Braunfels Photographic Society convened for its regular monthly meeting on October 13, 2015, at the New Braunfels Art League.
 
The meeting was called to order by President Homer Gilbert, who welcomed the attendees.  4 guests and 12 members attended.
 
The minutes from the previous month’s meeting were approved.
 
TREASURER’S REPORT
The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Dale Wood. The club has a current bank balance of $580.43. The Treasurer’s Report was approved.
 
Program: Ralph Nordenhold shared two videos by Creative Live:
  • Exposure Tips for Landscape Photography
  • Mastering Long Exposure
 
OLD BUSINESS
Homer reported from September’s board meeting:
  • Themes for 2016 have been established and will be revealed later
  • An honorary 2016 membership has been conferred for Victor Watson
  • The board had received the report from the nominating committee
  • Furthermore, the Board had asked Sandy Gilbert to look into the possibility of having a year-end show.
  • Sandy asked the attendees if they were interested in the Society having an annual show with prints and the possibility to sell prints. The attendees responded favorably.
 
NEW BUSINESS
The nominating committee proposed the following board members for 2016:
  • President:  Linda Knox
  • Vice President:  Homer Gilbert
  • Treasurer:  Dale Wood
  • Secretary:  Jørgen Høg
  • Director:  Dennis Deeny
  • Director:  Darryl Patrick
No other candidates were proposed from the floor
 
Next month’s assignment is “Patterns/Repetitions”
 
Next month’s program is “Wild Life Photography” by Jack Smith.
 
Several upcoming events were mentioned:
  • Mission San Jose on 10/15
  • Floresville Balloon Festival October 16-18
  • Texas Renaissance Festival October 10 through November 29
 
VIEWING ASSIGNMENT PHOTOS OF THE MONTH
We reviewed this month’s photos. The assignment was “Pairs/Opposites”
 
OPEN DISCUSSION
  • Homer mentioned that the Society needs a new web-site that is easier to navigate, and asked for a volunteer to build and maintain the site
  • A guest suggested the Society should get involved on more social sites such as Instagram and Twitter.
